However, it’s always safer and more prudent to carry an IDP to ensure compliance with local laws and for insurance purposes. Notably, Vietnam only recognizes IDPs issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, so travelers from countries not party to this convention may face challenges.
